Lilley Reaches Milestone

Alex Lilley reached a major career milestone at Leamington Raceway on Sunday, Sept. 13, winning his first four drives of the afternoon to reach 1,000 career victories.

The milestone came in Race 7 aboard Jimmy Hooffa, who scored by 5-1/4 lengths in 1:58.1 for trainer Dennis Belan and co-owners Doug Belan and Brian Fitzgerald. The four-year-old pacer also set a new lifetime mark.

The four-win afternoon doubled Lilley’s seasonal win total. The 43-year-old Dutton, Ont. horseman earned his first driving victory in 2003 and has now driven winners of more than $6.1 million lifetime.
